Sonia Becker is a multidisciplinary artist and designer whose work spans various mediums and disciplines, reflecting her diverse skills and interests. Her artistic expression encompasses painting, graphic design, web development, photography, video editing, and digital art.
Deeply connected to her French roots, Sonia’s work reflects the elegance and cultural depth often associated with European artistic traditions, while also engaging with a broader, global perspective.
Her aesthetic vision and creative methodology are influenced by her family’s long-standing engagement with the arts and intellectual life. This foundation blends with her lived experiences across Mauritius, South Africa, the United States, Australia, and New Zealand, each place contributing distinct narratives and visual influences to her evolving artistic language.
The lush vibrancy of Mauritius, a place especially close to her heart, continues to inspire her work. In South Africa, her paintings were warmly appreciated in the Ballito area on the North Coast of Natal. The iconic imagery of the USA, along with the natural beauty of Australia and New Zealand, further enriches her creative expression. Sonia weaves these varied influences into a rich tapestry of art that is both visually striking and deeply resonant.
Her time spent in the USA profoundly influenced the painting Reach for the Sky, a powerful homage to the bold spirit of America. The iconic eagle symbolizing strength and freedom serves as a central muse in this work, reflecting the dynamic energy and resilience she admires.
